Kansas City, Mo. — The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department is urgently seeking the public’s help to locate a 40‑year‑old woman who has been reported missing and is considered endangered.

Police say Kathryn Welty was last seen walking eastbound in the area of the 2600 block of East Meyer Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon at approximately 3 p.m.

Welty is described as a White female, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 130 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

At the time she was last seen, she was wearing a blue hospital gown and is believed to be on foot and homeless.

The missing person alert from the KCPD Missing Persons Unit emphasizes that Welty’s circumstances are unusual and that she may be vulnerable.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen her or has information about her whereabouts to come forward immediately.

Residents who think they may have seen Welty, particularly if she was wearing a hospital gown or appeared disoriented, are urged to contact the KCPD Missing Persons Unit at (816) 234‑5043 or call 911.

The report released by police noted that Welty was last observed walking near East Meyer Boulevard, a busy area in the city.

Because she was wearing a hospital gown and is believed to be without stable housing, officers believe she may be in need of medical attention, shelter, or assistance.

The missing person alert has prompted responses from the community online, with some residents sharing their concern and potential sightings.

People are encouraging anyone with firsthand information to speak with police so her location can be confirmed.

Authorities have not confirmed whether those online reports represent actual sightings, but they serve to highlight the public’s awareness and concern.

Police stress that any piece of accurate information, no matter how small it may seem, could assist in locating Welty.

The Kansas City Police Department treats missing and endangered person cases seriously, and the Missing Persons Unit continues to coordinate search efforts in this case.

Law enforcement says prompt reporting and cooperation from the community can make a significant difference in locating someone who may be unable to seek help on their own.

As of this writing, Welty has not yet been found and the search remains active. Anyone with information is asked to contact KCPD or call 911 immediately.

The department reiterates that all tips are confidential and may be critical in helping to ensure Welty’s safety and well‑being
