Kansas City police are investigating a late-night apartment incident that left three people hurt at 6311 Woodland Avenue on Saturday night.

Officers were called to the area at about 9:09 p.m. on April 4 after reports of trouble at the property, and when they arrived they found one adult man inside an apartment with life-threatening injuries.

He was rushed to a local hospital, underwent surgery, and was later reported to be in life-threatening but stable condition.

Police said a second adult man was also taken to a hospital after suffering a graze injury, while a third victim, an adult woman, was found to have been assaulted during the same incident.

The case remains under investigation, and officers have not released additional details about what led up to it or whether anyone had been taken into custody as of the latest public updates.

The incident happened at the Victoria Arms Apartments near 63rd Street and Woodland Avenue, a location that drew a large police response Saturday night.

A KMBC photographer at the scene reported seeing several Kansas City police vehicles with emergency lights activated around the apartment complex as officers worked through the early stages of the investigation.

That kind of visible response added to the sense that this was not a minor call, even though public details remained limited through Sunday.

What is clear so far is that the situation involved multiple victims inside the same apartment complex, making it one of the more serious local incidents reported in Kansas City over the weekend.

The first man’s condition was initially described as life-threatening, though later reporting said he had stabilized after surgery.

The second man’s injury was less severe, and police also confirmed that the woman involved had been assaulted but not struck by gunfire.

Kansas City police have continued to refer to the case as an aggravated assault investigation, and no broader explanation has yet been made public.

That leaves several key questions unanswered, including what exactly happened inside the apartment, whether the people involved knew each other, and what led officers to the scene just after 9 p.m. Saturday.

For now, investigators appear to be keeping the case tightly controlled while they work through witness statements, evidence collection and the sequence of events inside the complex.

The response has also put fresh attention on the 6311 Woodland Avenue address, which is now tied to one of the latest developing police investigations in the city.

With three people hurt and only limited official information released, the case remains an active one to watch.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 816-474-TIPS, according to local reporting from the scene.
