A Kansas City case that started with bullets hitting a home has now led to serious felony charges against Michael Rambo, as court records lay out what investigators describe as a wider dispute that had already spilled into the same neighborhood more than once.
Prosecutors in Jackson County charged the 33-year-old with unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action after an April 1 incident in which officers found a house struck by rounds and “numerous shell casings” outside.
According to court documents, investigators were already familiar with tension between two sides connected to earlier incidents on March 28 and March 31, when homes were also hit by gunfire.
That made the April 1 case feel less like a one-night burst of violence and more like part of an ongoing pattern that had already put nearby residents in danger.
The case then moved quickly. Court records say officers later responded to a disturbance and noticed a black Chevrolet Malibu with missing silver trim above the passenger-side door.

A witness told detectives she had been driving her 2014 Chevy Malibu when a man she identified as “Big Mike” asked to use the vehicle.
She said she went with them, and while they were out, “Big Mike” fired at least five rounds at a house” through the side window.
Surveillance video became another key piece of the case. Court documents say detectives reviewed footage that appeared to show a black Chevy Malibu pass the home while a passenger fired several rounds toward the property before the car continued on.
Police later identified Rambo as the suspected gunman, and officers took him into custody on April 2 after spotting him on the porch of his home wearing clothing they believed matched the person seen in the video.
Rambo denied firing a gun when questioned. Court records say he told detectives that he did not fire a gun and does not own a firearm.
Even so, investigators later recovered multiple shell casings and a 9mm handgun from a nearby home as the case continued to build.
No injuries inside the home have been publicly listed in the charging details, but the case still carries heavy consequences.
Rambo is being held in the Jackson County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond, and the charges now place him at the center of a case that investigators say is tied to a neighborhood dispute that had already left several homes in the line of danger.
