Kansas City Fashion Week is now accepting designer applications for its Fall/Winter 2026 season, opening the door for creatives who want to bring their work to one of the Midwest’s better-known regional fashion platforms.

The upcoming season is scheduled for September 19 through September 26, 2026, with shows returning to Union Station Kansas City, which has long served as one of KCFW’s signature venues.

For local and regional designers, the application window is more than a routine call for entries. It is a chance to get in front of a larger audience in a setting that already carries weight in Kansas City’s creative scene.

Kansas City Fashion Week has built its reputation around runway production and brand exposure, and for designers trying to move their label forward, that kind of platform can matter just as much as the collection itself.

This season’s application is focused on Fall/Winter 2026 collections, with KCFW looking across a wide range of categories including ready-to-wear, couture, womenswear, childrenswear, menswear, bridal, eveningwear, streetwear, swimwear, accessories, avant-garde, athletic wear and artistic fashion.

Designers are required to submit a complete application along with supporting materials, including at least four photos of previous work, and organizers say incomplete submissions will not be considered.

The application period opened on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, and closes at 11:59 p.m. CST on Monday, April 27, 2026. KCFW says no late applications will be accepted.

From there, selected applicants will move into a virtual interview stage, with interview invitations expected to go out on May 3 and virtual interviews scheduled for May 6 and May 7.

Designers chosen for that round will need to show concept sketches or idea boards for at least four pieces from their planned collection, along with garments from previous work that reflect their construction and craftsmanship.

That selection process shows KCFW is not simply filling runway slots. Organizers are asking designers to come prepared with a clear vision, technical ability and a collection that is already taking shape.

Final designer selections are expected to be sent by May 9, after which those chosen will move into the next phase of meetings, follow-ups and production planning ahead of the fall shows.

Union Station remains a big part of the appeal. Kansas City Fashion Week has described the historic venue as a longtime partner and favorite among many participating designers, and it continues to serve as a polished backdrop for the event’s runway productions.

The setting gives selected designers a stage that already feels established, which can make a difference for brands trying to leave a stronger impression.

There is also a practical side to what KCFW is offering. Selected designers are not just getting runway time. The event outlines support that includes production, staging, lighting, AV, a DJ track, backstage assistance, model selection through the official KCFW roster, and access to a hair and makeup team if requested by deadline.

Designers also receive website recognition, magazine placement tied to their show date, and other potential news or interview opportunities as they become available.

For Kansas City’s fashion scene, the opening of applications is another sign that the city is still building space for designers to be seen without having to leave the region first.

Kansas City Fashion Week continues to position itself as a serious platform for emerging and established talent, and with the April 27 deadline now in place, designers have a limited window to make their case for a spot on the F/W 2026 runway at Union Station
