Kansas City Weather Today (April 28, 2026): Cooler Clouds, Spotty Showers, and a Quiet Night After Monday’s Storms

KC weather april Kansas City’s weather today is cooler, mostly cloudy, and much quieter than Monday, with spotty afternoon showers possible before temperatures fall into the mid 40s tonight.

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI — Kansas City gets a cooler and calmer Tuesday after Monday’s heavy rain, flooding concerns and stormy start to the week.

The day is not completely sunny, and it is not fully dry for everyone. Still, the overall setup is much easier than Monday. Clouds stay around through much of the day, temperatures only climb near 61°F, and a few showers may develop after lunchtime.

The morning already feels different. At Kansas City Downtown Airport, conditions were overcast late Tuesday morning, with the temperature sitting near 51°F and a north wind around 9 mph.

That north and northeast wind is the main reason Tuesday feels noticeably cooler.

Kansas City is no longer sitting in the warm, stormy setup from Monday. Cooler air has moved in behind the system, keeping the afternoon in the upper 50s to low 60s instead of the warmer 70s seen earlier this week.

Cooler air settles in with only spotty shower chances

Tuesday’s rain chance is mainly an afternoon issue. Kansas City can see a few scattered showers after 1 p.m., but this is not expected to be a full-day washout.

The rain chance sits around 30%, which means some neighborhoods may see a brief shower while others stay mostly cloudy and dry.

The severe weather threat also takes a break today. After a very active stretch for the region, the pattern has relaxed, with regular rain chances still possible but no major severe setup expected over the next several days.

The biggest leftover issue is flooding in parts of the broader region after earlier heavy rainfall.

Some surrounding Missouri counties still have flood concerns and road closures tied to high water, especially near rivers, creeks, streams and low-lying areas.

For Kansas City itself, the day is mainly about the cooler feel, the clouds and the small shower chance.

Overall, Kansas City’s weather today is cooler, mostly cloudy, and calmer, with a high near 61°F, a small afternoon shower chance, and a chilly night ahead.
